25th dead anniversary of Imam Khomeini observed; Iranian revolution reflects message to stand against atrocities: Ayatullah Hassan Alami

ISLAMABAD: Imam Khomeini was a genuine leader Islamic world has produced in the recent and he was second to none, he lived his life to give awareness to the Muslims of the world to take a stand against the atrocities and interference of West in Muslim countries. 

This was stated by the Special representatives of Iranian Supreme Leader and Member of Iranian Supreme Council Ayatullah Hassan Alami as he was addressing a seminar here in Academy of letters, with the connection 25^th death of Imam Khomeini held by the Institute of Cultural & Media Studies and Iranian Cultural Consulate Islamabad. He said that Imam Khomeini spread the message of unity among all the Muslim countries as he believed it is the only solution to solve the issues Muslim countries are facing. He said that Muslims in most part of the World from Palestine to Kashmir are facing brutalities of oppressors and they would not be able to get success and to get their lost glory until they would not be united. He said that Iran was a mere colony of United Stated but the revolution of Iran under the leadership of great revolutionist of recent history restored the pride of Iranian nation.

 He said that Western countries using their bold culture using films to invade the Muslim culture and it is the time to think on broader aspect.

President of Iranian Cultural Consulate Taqqi Sadqi said that Iran and Pakistan are brotherly Muslim countries and have great similarities of culture and faith. President PFUJ Azfal Butt, Mazhar Barlas in their addresses appreciated the efforts of great leader Khomeini for the unity of Muslim Ummah. Munawar Hasmi reflected the Iranian revolution with the poetry of the Poet of the East Dr. Allama Iqbal as said that revolution was the reality of his dreams. People from all walks of life including educationists, journalists and students attended the event in great numbers. Renowned writer Munawar Hashmi, Quratu Ail Bukhari, Syed Sabtain Naqvi, Pir Haider Gillani, Pir Wajid Ali Akbar, Ali Raza Alvi, Mazhar Barlas and President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Afzal Butt expressed their views and presented their tribute to the contribution of Imam Khomeini in uniting the Muslim world.

Impressive start of Pakistan in world T20, but few things to look after

Pakistan started the T20 word campaign successfully as they have beaten New Zealand in their warm-up match in the fifth World Twenty20 Cup comprehensively by 7 wickets on Monday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh. Pakistan team looked a good unit as team performed well in all the departments of the game like bowling, batting and fielding. While bowling first fast bowlers Muhammad Talha and Umer Gul bowled superbly and picked respectively two and three wickets by giving away runs less then the economy rate of six runs per over, but performance of other medium pacer Sohail Tanvir was disappointing and he looked a weak individual in the team as he conceded 43 runs in four overs. In the spin department two senior fellows both over thirty five years off age and having vast experience showed their class as Saeed Ajmal took one wicket in four overs by giving away just 18 runs and Zulfiqar Babar also sent one Kiwi player to pavilion. Team Pakistan was successful to restrict New Zealand on the modest total of 145 in 20 overs. Chasing 146, Pakistan completed the victory on a penultimate ball of the match for the loss of three wickets while Kamran retired out. Kamran Akmal scored impressive 45-ball 52 fifty and skipper Mohammad Hafeez smashed 55 off 39 balls. Hafeez struck five sixes and three fours in his fifty while Kamran made remarkable comeback with a brilliant half-century. Sharjeel Khan also played two handsome strokes for boundaries but he lost his wicket cheaply and his habit of losing his wicket early of the innings indeed a concern for the team management.  

Although Pakistan played well in the first warm up match but few things to be taken seriously before the next warm up match against South Africa tomorrow. Pakistan is one of the most successful teams in the short history of T20 cricket and is the only team to qualify for the two finals in 2007 remained runner ups and in 2009 lifted the cup and two seminal finals of World T20 cups in 2010 and 2012. Success against South Africa would surely boost the confidence of the team before playing the crucial match against India on 21^st March. Pakistan is in group 2 which is considered to be a death group as Pakistan would be playing matches against inaugural World Champions of 2007 India, West Indies defending champions and always dangerous looking with number of all rounders in the team and against inform Australia which is in superb form recently and had won bilateral series 2-0 against South Africa.

Pakistan is a cricket loving nation and it unites all the people of country usually divided on regional, ethnic and linguistic or religious basis. We hope that Pakistan team would lift the cup as it would raise the spirit of the team which has been isolated in the recent Big-3 saga in the international cricket.

Offering terrorists an office

Few and Far between voices rise, mostly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf to give the chance to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to open an office in Islamabad or in some other place in KPK to run its office which would eventually be helpful in talks with Talibans.

Last year, Chief of PTI Imran Khan has offered to the terrorists to open an office, back then after severe criticism PTI tried to escape and was in the view that it was individual idea of Imran and remarks in this regard did not reflect party policy. This time KPK Chief Minister renewed his government’s offer to the militants to open an office in the province, adding that the KP government would “cooperate with them” in this regard. Those favoring this idea give logic that in the past Afghan Taliban had opened an office in Doha then why we can not give chance to local Taliban to have the same facility in Pakistan and obviously talks could not take place somewhere on the mountains and a proper place required to do so.   

Not only the civil society but also federal government has done well to strictly oppose the renewed calls for granting the TTP a piece of state-sanctioned office space. The State Minister for Interior told the Senate that the centre would not allow such a move which makes sense because this act would lead a very negative image of the government in front of the masses because there has been valid criticism that state is not taking hard steps when it comes to dealing with the militants.

There can be more then dozen of arguments presented against the statements of PTI members for giving a chance to TTP to open an office in Pakistan. First of all TTP is a banned outfit which does not consider the constitution of the Pakistan Islamic and they have repeatedly declared it in the past, then how they should be given a chance to open office. Second TTP terrorists have killed hundreds of thousands innocent people of the our beloved country without sparing women, children and old citizens and created chaos in the state now if they would be given a green signal to open an office in the country then how the politicians would face the relatives of the martyred people who had been killed by the brutality of TTP terrorists. Engaging with terrorists for negotiations is one thing and giving them chance to open an office is quite another and illogical act because it gives the sense that government is legitimising the militants and recognising them as equal partners. Question also arises that would the politicians then also consider allowing other officially banned outfits based on ethnic, linguistic, regional and sectarian basses and operating all over the country to open their respective bureaus in order to deal with them properly? TTP is well known for its brutality and militants of TTP want to remake or change Pakistan into their own image which has nothing to do with Islam and for this purpose they use force and kill innocent people and they also challenge the writ of the state and it seems that few politicians are helping TTP in that aim but they must not forget that nation is standing beside the effected people by the cruelty of the terrorist and they would never accept such ridiculous acts of the politicians.
